The bottom of my (mid-2010) macbook pro has sustained scratches and I was wondering if it is possible to purchase a new bottom plate. If so, how much would it cost?

I called my local apple store to ask but they claimed that I would need to make an appointment with a "genius" (pot pretentious at all) to sort out coverage and costs. I'm fairly certain that it wouldn't be covered under the warranty and just want to know what kind of cost I would be looking at to satisfy my OCD.

Thanks in advance.

Its super cheap. I bought one for my late 2009 model and it was about $60.

I haven't put it on because its just kind of nice knowing I can easily replace it.

I bought mine through an Authorized Apple Dealer here in Indiana. It was much cheaper through them than some online retailers.

Cheers!
