Look at the Mac Mini, we know how much extra the 1Tb will add, I expect the 3Tb to be almost twice that.

I personally don't think the price from 1TB fusion to 3TB fusion will be that high since the SSD is the same the only thing changing is the HDD.

And like I said if its 250 to change the 5400rpm for a 7200rpm +128SSD then the price should be less on an iMac that already has that 7200, So I guess something more like $180+.

I wonder why apple doesn't offer a 756SSD+3TB fusion drive as they occupy different parts of the case. That would be insanely pricy though.

I hope the 1TB fusion is $250. I really want the 768GB SSD, but I'm scared to find out how much that jewel will cost.

The pricing for the 768gb SSD for the MacBook Pro with Retina display ranges from $500 for the high end rMBP to $1300 for the lower end rMBP.
Best guess, somewhere in between.

Having a SSD in a MacBook Air or the rMBP saves weight, is more robust, more energy efficient and quieter. Having a large SSD makes sense as there's no chance of an internal disk drive. But if you have an iMac with a Fusion drive, then you are looking for the SSD to act as a super type of cache to speed up disk access and it's hard to see how having more than 128GB of SSD would speed things up much more.

Someone commented that their photo library wouldn't all fit on the SSD so it would be relegated to the HDD, but in reality the photo library is composed of many hundreds of individual files and those accessed more regularly would be on the SSD. Same with iTunes and many other applications.

One thing I've been wondering. Is 128gb SSD big enough in the Fusion drive? Will there ever be a need in future years for 256gb or 512gb for it to work effectively? Will it be possible to upgrade if necessary?

Looking at the quick storage analysis of my MacBook Air I'm currently using 177GB out of a 256GB SSD.

I've got
- 20GB of applications (presumably this includes OS X?),
- 42GB of iTunes music,
- 43GB of iPhoto pics,
- 18GB of an iMovie project, plus
- 54GB of 'other' which includes a Parallel's Windows XP setup.

There's no way I'd expect the OS X software running the Fusion hybrid to keep my music, photos and movies on SSD. Maybe the indexing files, but not the actual music and photos.

And everything else, including a full installation of Windows XP and associated applications, is a grand total of just 74GB. I would have thought 64GB of SSD would probably work quite well, but having 128GB sounds just fine to me.

MacBook Pro

Any guesses how much $$$ for the 768GB SSD? Wish I would be able to get a pure SSD drive in the 21.5". It's ridiculous that you can't.

Well to upgrade to the 768GB of pure flash for the new MacBook pro's ,with the retina display, is $1,300.
