I've had an iPhone since they first came out in '07 and my plans have always been about $105 total per month with unlimited text and data. Just recently I was able to get my total monthly bills down to $82.xx a month.

I'm on the lowest voice plan 450/month

200 texts per month (using TextFree - which works wonderfully - exclusively except for picturemail)

Unlimited 3G data

And I have a discount with my school e-mail address through studentrate.com (anybody with a .edu e-mail address can do this)

THere are 2 of us on our plan
1st line
Family Talk Nation Unlimited -$70
Unlimited iphone data- $30
Unlimited family plan texting - $30

Second line
Unlimited minutes -$49.99
Unlimited iphone date - $30

Total- $210 + taxes

My 1st bill is $136.xx (with the activation fee).

After my discount kicks in, I'll be paying $89+tax monthly.

450 minutes.
2GB data plan
Unlimited texting
Early nights + weekends

My total bill after the 24% FAN discount has been applied for voice, and unlimited data plan comes to $52/month.

$83/month. 450 minutes. unlimited text/data. Government discount. I think it supposed to be about $90+ before my discount.

how would AT&T know when I finish graduate school?

My school never cancels your e-mail address ...

You can use your school's FAN discount for life I'm pretty sure. I have been out of college for two years, but I am still able to sign up for their FAN discount. Basically, you just need to have access to your school email, because they send you a confirmation link to your school email address.

How much additional in taxes/fees do they tack on to your bill? I haven't gotten my first bill, but mine will be similar to yours at around $53 before taxes.

I have the 700 minute family plan with two iphones, unlimited texting on both numbers. after Michigan taxes and all AT&T's charges the bill is $186 and some change.
I have the same exact plan, 700 min, unlimited texting, 2GB data plan, and with taxes and everything my total is $159 a month. oh and I also live in Michigan :D

The $52 that I pay is after taxes, but usually it's about $6 or so.

$79.99 + tax for 2 iPhone 4's (as of tomorrow) on Tmobile. 1500 shared minutes and text. No data though. We just use free wifi wherever we go :)

three lines, a FAN Discount of 15%, messaging 200 on two of the lines, and datapro 2GB on one line. Final Bill: $125.

I share 700 min/month, which is more than enough for my family's needs.

Do note that AT&T does pro-rate data plans. For example, if I add the tethering option for 2 weeks only, then I end up only paying $10 extra that month and not $20.
