Hey all,

I will be purchasing a new mac pro to do video editing for weddings, industrial videos, ect. I'm wondering how much memory do i need. I've heard 4 Gbs is pretty standard, is this right? Or do i need more? Also, i'll eventually be utilizing motion graphics and so forth, will the standard card do the job, or should i upgrade that. Any help would be appreciated. This will be my first apple computer purchase and am trying to find out as much info as possible. Thanks.

if your doing video editing 2gb is defo minimum 4gb should work 8gb would be great

just remember that the mac pro has 2 processors so you get 4 ram slots per CPU for best performance give them the same amount of ram each.

Apple standard is 4x512MB i would suggest you get 2x2GB

that way you can upgrade massively you could get 4x1GB which in theory would give you more bandwidth speed but that limits you to 8GB (8x1)

where as 2GB dims let you have 16GB 😀
