I get your disbelief. The majority of systems were purchased in the age of Macwrite. Mac II LCs for writers/editors, and IIci's and IIcx's (later Quadras and Powermacs) for graphic design. 'Nary a copy of Word to be seen.

Now a couple of later systems did eventually have a copy of Office installed, but that wasn't purchased out of my budget, or based on my recommendation.

But I do admit a little love on for a shiny new Xbox... :p

brings us to a total of just around $15,000, over the past 4 or 5 years. And I still feel like I get treated like crud when I have to call Apple up. :/

I won't even try to figure out how many bucks Apple's made from "Made for iPod" fees for products we've purchased. I've never resold any of the stuff on the list, although I have given things away to family members. I feel like I could never get a good enough price for such great computers.

Powerbook: $2200
Macbook (black): $1500
Macbook Pro: $1700
iPod Photo: $350
iPod Video: $230

so Apple has gotten about $6k from me in the past two years.. though I've actually sold and traded my "old" stuff in order to fund the new, so I haven't actually dished out quite that much.

ipod generation 4?- $299
ipod- latest 30 gig model for my girlfriend- $249
applecare for above ipod- $47
refurb imac 20" core 2 duo- $1299

so approximately $1900. this does not include taxes.

Power Mac G5 (second hand) £1000 GBP
23" Apple cinema display (second hand) £500 GBP
Intel Mac Mini £350 GBP
Macbook Intel CD £750 GBP
MacBook Intel C2D £750 GBP (for wife)
Wireless Keyboards (qty 2) £40 GBP
Wireless mighty Mouse (qty 2) £100 GBP

OMG .... thats nearly £3500 GBP
I wished I hadn't counted that up.

Dave

I'd rather not know,or I might have a realization like the poster above me. ;)

My credit card is poised and ready for 1/9/07.

B

ipod mini $250
12inch powerbook $1500
CD mac mini $800
C2D iMac $1550
MBP $1850
Macbook $1400

i don't have the ipod mini or 12inch PB anymore but all the other ones i use daily except the macbook which i bought for my gf.

so $7,350 over the last year.....OUCH haha. citicards thankyounetwork thanks me very much

How much money have you spent on Apple products?, (services, software, iTunes cards, anything)

I spent over $1780 buying this my current macbook
then i've spent $90 on iTunes cards and
i've owned three iPods and i'm getting ready to get another one.
so that's $429 on ipods so that adds up to over $2300 and i asked my dad to buy me the airport extreme which is $200 (but he might get me the older airport which is $129)
so apple has gotten $2500 just off of little old me.

actually i'm getting ready to buy a 1000 song ipod, $200, so i'd say about $2700.

we keep on buying more and more...
with windows computers you buy one and that's it, but mac user is kinda like an identity and you are compelled to buy their stuff so when something new comes out, you are there to buy it. if you sell the old one, that's fine as long as you're buying more.
apple has a great business plan.

apple's plan for me is to wait another 3 years before i blow more cash haha. after responding to this thread...i definitely realize no more machines for atleast 2-3 years

I've never been a big buyer of new things... used stuff is less expensive (or even free some times). Things that I have bought new (and in many cases, directly from Apple) include:
Mac OS 8.5 $99 (1999)
Apple Tech Materials $400 (1999)
iMac G3/350 $799 (2000)
Mac OS X Public Beta $19 (2000)
Mac OS X v10.0 $99 (2001)
Mac OS X v10.2 $129 (2002)
Mac OS X v10.3 $129 (2004)
iPod shuffle $99 (2004)
About $100 in iTunes music
Total............ $1873
By comparison, I've made most of my living servicing Apple products since 2000. So what little I spend on Apple and Apple related products is the smallest fraction of what I've made thanks to Apple.

It almost doesn't seem fair... but some how I don't think Apple is feeling much hardship because of it. :D

1998, iMac G3 233, $1,500
2000, iBook G3 333, $1,600
2002, TiBook G4 1Ghz, $3,000
2003, iPod 3G 20gb, $400
2004, AlBook G4 1.5Ghz, $2,700
2006, MBP 17" 2.13Ghz, $2,700

Remember that im only 18 and that is what apple taken from me.
Doesn't count for cable and ac adaptors.

Future
2007, MBP Ultra Thin, $2,300
2007, Apple Display with HDMI, $????
2008, MBP 17" for lil bro graduation gift

Not sure but if you're interested you can do the maths.

This year:

1 Mac Mini (Intel CD)
Mini sold to a friend when it was replaced by a custom-built C2D Windows Media Center PC which is - among other things - quieter than the PPC Mini.

1 Macbook Pro 17" + 23" ACD + iWork

3 20-inch Intel CD iMacs + 23" Apple Cinema Displays + iWork
1 Macbook + iWork
1 Macbook as a spare for the above + iWork
Macbooks found to be unacceptable, and I also decided to return the iMacs as well to go back to a fully Windows work environment. Got a full refund for those. Macbook Pro also unacceptable in principle certainly for doing anything useful, but I like it a bit too much.

1 8Gb 2G Nano
1 2Gb 2G Nano

1 Mac Pro, 3.0 / X1900, + 30" ACD + iWork
1 Macbook Pro 15" + 23" ACD + iWork

600 MHz iMac - $999
6GB iPod mini - $250
G4 Mac mini - $499
1GB iPod nano - $149
Core Duo iMac - $1399
Core Duo MacBook - $1299
2GB nano - $149
So that's a total of $4744, though that doesn't include iTunes purchases.

1200€ for MacBook CD 1.83 1gb with EDU discount
159€ for iPod Nano 2gb (2nd gen, bought yesterday)
10€ for music from iTunes Music Store

Haven't spent as much money as some of you (yet, at least ;) )

this is kind of depressing to think about, but

iPod 4G $299 (bought 2004)
iPod shuffle 1G $99 (bought 2005)
iBook G4 $1100 (bought 2005 sold 2006)
iMac CD 17" $1200 (bought 2006)
earbuds $40
usb charger $40
total = $2778

i'm planning on traveling overseas next year so i am going to sell the imac soon and buy a macbook. so i can add another thousand or so to this soon.

Over the years? Probably around 30 grand or more. Not a bad investment considering that I've made much more than I've spent... and the Mac has been intergrated into my way of life. I can't start my day without checking in on my Mac. Pathetic isn't it?

including stock, or just hardware/software? And if the stock gain offsets the outlay, does that mean apple is really paying me to use their products?

iMac G4 was around £2300 (sold)
Powerbook G4 £2000
iMac G5 *second hand, but still* £495 (sold)
MacPro + 23" ACD £3700
iPod 1st gen, £345 ~
iPod Mini £189
iPod Nano £149
iPod 5G £219
iPod Hi-Fi £250
iPod 5.5G £179
Macbook £808
Panther £89
Tiger £89
Mighty Mouse and Keyboard ~ £70 (sold)
An Airport and Airport Extreme BS. Cant remember how much these cost.

So far, around £11200 (US$21800)

future purchase includes a MBP next year.

quite a bit then...

EDIT: This doesnt include Photoshop 6 (yup, going back a bit), CS2, Microsoft Office, VPC 98 and XP (both rubbish), FC, Alot of music equipment I have. Alot of money spent, but, every penny has been worth while

EDIT 2: Computers with sold next to them are self explanitary. Also, been using Macs since the iMac G4 came out. 800Mhz Superdrive.

good point - i have bought and sold apple shares several times since 1998 and always made money. i have some shares right now but i would have to look up the price i paid for them. i know that i have made a decent chunk of what i have spent from selling apple stock. now i don't feel as bad.

Hmm,

iBook G3 (gave to girlfriend)
iBook G4 (traded in for money towards PB)
1st Gen iPod (still have it and it works)
PowerBook 64 Titanium (traded it in towards PB 12")
12" PowerBook (Died after years of good use, sold for parts)
1st gen silver iPod Nano (got mugged for it)
.mac since 2001 (i think it's been that long)
Refurb MB Pro Core Duo
Refreshed MB Pro Core Duo
Refurb Black iPod Nano 2 Gig
Quicktime Pro license

On top of this I have spent a good chunk on cables, speakers, cases and such from the apple store. Over the years I'd say it's been several thousand and I've also witnessed about ten friends switch after me showing them what I can do. If only apple had an incentive program for this other than the .mac.

2 iMacs, 2 ipods, various software, various hardware, iTunes Store purchases...over $5K currenty, though I am about to spring for a portable within the next month, so that'll up it to somewhere between $6K-7K.

The BEST money I've every spent has been on Applecare. My first iMac (Graphite-DV) needed a logic board, and now my G5 17" is in the shop for what may be a new logic board! I like riding them hard during the first 3 years. :D

I'm hoping to get my Apple purchases to start paying for themselves very soon -- go, go self-employment!
