How Much Ram Can This MBP support?

My gf has a a previous generation MBP with a 2.16 ghz processor and 1 gb of ram. Wanted to upgrade the RAM but they guy at the mac store was saying the computer only supports 2gb of ram. Is this right? Where can I find out how much it can support?

2.16 isn't enough information.

It either supports 2 or 3.

Posted the serial number on the website and it says 2gb is max.

What info do you need?

Is it Core Duo or Core 2 Duo. The former is 2GB, the latter can take 3.

What Apple says and what the truth is are very often different. Apple sets their own arbitrary RAM limits.
