I have 3x 4GB for a total of 12GB. I'm one of the poor souls with only 4 RAM slots in my Early 2009 Mac Pro.

I thought that I read here on the forums that I was better off with 3x 4GB RAM sticks than 4x 4GB RAM sticks, so I've been rolling with one slot empty. I'm tempted to purchase one more 4GB stick though. Can anyone clarify one way or the other for me? :)

my now ancient 2006 Mac Pro just doesn't feel as fast anymore. I think it's got some serious problems though, I'm not at home at the time so I can't check its page-outs but if I recall it was really paging out WAY too much for having 9GB of ram.

It's had a lot of problems over the years though, I was hoping and hoping to get a replacement, but it just keeps getting patch jobs from Apple which don't resolve my problems.
