I recently purchased an iPad Air 2, so I'm selling my 1st Gen. 32GB Space Grey iPad Air. It was purchased exactly a year ago, and is in excellent condition, with no issues whatsoever. I wouldn't be including my smart cover (keeping for Air 2), but otherwise it comes with the charger and all original packaging. How much do you think it would be reasonable to ask for it? Note that new, in Canadian Dollars, they're $489 (~552 incl. tax). Thoughts?

I would say, if you can find someone to buy it for almost new pricing, go for it. Unfortunately, I don't think many people would, so I would suggest looking at Gazelle or one of the other trade-in sites and see what they offer. Usually pricing around that range is more enticing to used product buyers. It may seem low, but that's usually how fair market pricing goes for electronics, especially products that aren't the newest generation.

I think I got ~$250 USD out of my 16GB iPad Air with Verizon sometime last year. That's ~$359 CAD. The 16GB LTE and 32GB non-LTE should be of similar value.

Anyway, check eBay and go from there. eBay is the most efficient used market you're going to find. Craigslist isn't a good source.

Check to see what Apple refurbs are going for -- take 20% off. Also check eBay and see what what sold ones went for. Between those two metrics you'll have your answer of a reasonable ask.

ha, I had a whole diatribe going about how ridiculous it is to think a 1st gen iPad had much value.

But the air is different.

I also recommend 20% off whatever Apple's refurb is.
