Hi, sorry if this question is stupid; as I've never owned a mac. About to get my first MBP ever. I'm pretty decided right now on the 2.6/512/16/560x.

My concern is that part of the appeal is that I can run both MacOS as well as Windows off of bootcamp, right? How much space would I be taking on the SSD between both OS installs?

The only way you're going to get a true read is from someone who wrote the numbers down with a fresh copy of OS-X and a fresh installing of Windows 10. I've got a Parallels Windows 10 on my on my MBA and a Bootcamp installation on my '13 iMac with Windows 10. Hard drive space is not an issue with either of them. The ONLY reason I have Windows 10 on either computer is I prefer MS Office in the Windows edition although most of the ratings give the nod to the OS-X edition of Office.

I just finished installing a brand new Windows 10 Pro 64bit inside VMware Fusion 8. With 2 vCPUs and 4 GB assigned and fully patched, the OS consumed 13.7 GB of disk space at this moment. I do not have anything else installed.

As far as the macOS, I can't tell for sure, but I would say it is about the same (under 20 GB) for basic install out of the box.

You need to keep in mind, as future updates are installed for the operating system and not just the OS bundled apps; you will need to have enough room to grow. Microsoft recommends a minimum of around 16 to 20 GBs, but a realistic size would be 64 to 128 GBs. Obviously will be installing your own apps, but you likely will be storing file in the Boot Camp partition too.
