How much storage are you choosing? I chose 1tb for the first time, but I'm only using 200gb because of 6tb iCloud storage.
I don't know if I should choose 512gb or 1tb... I prefer to have extra vs less space...

Just the base 256GB. It’s enough for my use and I’d rather not give Apple more money than I need to.

I tend to use more storage on iPads than on iPhones.

Still deciding between 256 and 512, I currently only use like 120 gigs but that is with all my photos and videos in iCloud (about ~90k items total so quite a lot). Not sure if I want to move up to 512 to have all my photos stored on my phone.. Anybody has any thoughts on the cons and pros of cloud vs. local storage?

I don't know why, but I picked 1TB on a 17 ProMax, Orange. I have a 14 ProMax now, with 512 and I am only using 1/2 of it, but figured that may not get a new phone for a while after this and having the extra storage may help.

I picked the 256 GB one. My current 15 PM has the same amount, and so far so good. Have 60 GB left with tons of photos, videos, music and well over 150 apps (probably lots of those are never even used). I will do a little cleanup when upgrading, but I think I’ll be good.

I did hestitate a little, but then I saw the price and was like “Oh absolutely not that I’m going to pay that.”

Yeah that's my gripe too, I kinda want the 512 to be sure and maybe not be dependent on cloud storage but the price of upgrading a phone that's already so expensive.. it's hard to justify especially with the euro prices in the EU

I’ve had issues accessing iCloud photos when traveling overseas (unreliable internet) so I prefer local storage.

Then again, my entire iCloud Photo Library is less than 50GB so it’s doable even on 128GB.

I predict that you’ll be fine with 512 GB.

I've been using the 1tb for the last couple cycles, but I usually have less than 100 gigs free, so I'm going for the 2tb this year. Seems absurd, but I travel allot, and take lot of pics and videos, and I love having hundreds of gigs of my favorite tv shows, movies, albums, etc... Local storage has been better for me, travelling and less than stellar cell reception proves to me I can't rely on the cloud. Don't like the 2 grand price though, but worth it.

512GB. My current phone (XS Max) has been at 256GB, and for 7 years, I can count on one hand how many times I have had to dump my phone to the Mac.

Hmm. That's a good way to think about it! I should go with 1tb...
just wondering did you take look what take up a lot of space. check to see if you need clean them up that you don't need. Like Text message with huge attachment files, or check photo duplicate or any screenshot or image you don't need. it can be alot of work clean up .

upgrade storage is alot. if you were half I think you can stay with 512Gb. if you have phone like 2 or 3 years you fill up halfway. you can stay with same scrooge wait few year then upgrade it.

I went with 512gb on the air.

I don't take a massive load of pictures, I've just about used 256gb and that's all my pictures from iPhone 4 days till now - it's nice to have all my pictures ever stored locally on my device. 512gb should keep me going for a while more.

1TB - I like to keep my photo library fully downloaded. It also leaves room for my 150 GB music library and 20 GB podcast library.
