I went for the 512GB this time, moving up from the 256GB I have been getting for the past few years, as I am nearing 200GB of data in my local storage.

Is it still a thing where the 512/1TB options will have faster storage performance than the 256?

I don't know why, but I picked 1TB on a 17 ProMax, Orange. I have a 14 ProMax now, with 512 and I am only using 1/2 of it, but figured that may not get a new phone for a while after this and having the extra storage may help.
Same. I’m at 300gb and that’s after all these years but now we’re taking 48mp photos and 4k+ videos. Plus I don’t delete messages. Just went with 1TB as this is the first phone I’ve seen that I’ll either keep for a long time or sell and grab a folding one when it comes out. Been on my 13mini and hate to give it up but I need a better camera

512gb for me. My 256gb is nearly full but will get a bit of cull before upgrading. If you really want to use some of the pro photo / video capabilities then it's likely that more local temp storage will be needed although with the USB3 connection it's possible that offloading content will be quicker and easier.

im also getting 512. I’m already using around 60% of my 256 16PM so it’s time for an upgrade

my launch day base 12 256GB has 15GB left after 5 years of heavy use. I’ve been thinking about 512GB/1TB since I keep my phone 4-5 years minimum but decided to choose 512GB on my 17 Pro due to upgrade cost. I will clean a bit or transfer to my laptop heavy stuff if necessary but I think it’s perfectly doable.

I prefer to have local storage, but I'm already using 2.8tb for my pictures! I don't have space to have it on local storage. :(
So I’m in the same predicament. I have 1.7TB of photos and videos, but on my 2TB iPad Pro it still runs out of space because of other apps.

So I turn on Optimize Photos which I really don’t want to. Then my Photos app usage drops to some tiny number like 100GB or something.

So I’m wondering why I even get the 2TB.
