256, I’ve found this to be more than enough for iPhone and iPad assuming you also use iCloud, which you absolutely should, for everything. It’s more than enough space to download content on a whim, have a large local cache of stuff that is not regularly offloaded, and still have a lot of free space.

It’s really an archaic approach at this stage. Everything is synced to iCloud, and the device is expert at caching/offloading content as necessary. Just let it do its thing.

That’s questionable. It seems like every time I open the Files app, iOS has offloaded files and folders I want to keep on device. It’s gotten to the point that I copy stuff that I absolutely need offline to “On My iPhone/iPad” (which I do on both my iPhone and iPad mini).

iCloud Photos allows Download and Keep Originals. There really should be a way to “pin” iCloud Drive folders so iPhones/iPads can keep updated local copies.

At the moment it looks like 256 and 1TB are the leaders. I'd be curious to know what the main driver for 1TB purchases was - the nano etched screen, 16GB of RAM/not binned M4, or actually needing that much storage.

I did not need 1TB of storage, but the 16GB and not binned M4 prompted me to lay out the extra $$$$. 🤠

Coming from a iPad 2/iPad Mini 2 with 16GB [and still not maxing the storage yet].
I just went for base m4 11" 256GB WiFi only.

way more than enough for my needs

I only bought 16GB for my first iPad (an Air) and once iOS 8 came I regretted every bit of that decision. Haven't had less than 64GB since. Do you mostly use them for web browsing and streaming content?

I ordered the 2TB, but it was foolish of me. I knew I would get at least the 1TB option as I wanted the increased RAM and my 512GB model was getting tight as I like to keep my Photo Library, Music Library, and manga library local.

On order I day let FOMO on future expanded usage get the better of me and forked over the additional $400. That’ll be a lot to spend to keep some tv shows local, but at least I’ll never have to think about storage.

I hate that Apple got me with this as well. I really should have saved all that money and just got the 256GB because that’s more than enough storage for me, and the extra RAM and core didn’t really amount to much.

Whatever, though. I plan on keeping this iPad for several years before upgrading so it’ll be nice not to worry about RAM a few years from now.

For ne 512 GB would have been enough, but I bought the 1TB for the 16GB RAM.

256gb would been enough for me. But given the 512gb modules were twice as fast as the 256gb and u never know but Apple might release multi profile support I went with 512

Got 2tb cloud and I’ve never needed more than 100gb for example with iPad.

256gb for me here. Also don’t want to spend more money on this thing! Already feel guilty with it not being that much different to my 2018 iPad Pro!

while 256GB was enough for my M1 3 years ago I wanted to make sure I had some headroom as I want to use this device as my main computer (personal use) / companion computer (professional use) for the next 3 years at least

256 gb. Never used more than half of that on my 2018 iPad Pro, and going to 1tb just for the questionable benefits of more ram just didn't seem worth it for me.
