Minor annoyance (at first) describes it for me. An Apple USB-A to C adapter fixed those things which I use occasionally and are still USB-A like my Suunto GPS watch. I bought a new cable for an external HDD and a new USB-C SD card reader, both of which were under £10 each, so its not been a big hassle.

When I'm out and about I bought an Apple USB-C adapter which has the USB-A, HDMI and power pass-through thing on it just to have.

Its really not been a big thing for me. But then I remember when USB-A first came out and how long that took to be adopted across the board (years and years) so this is nothing compared to that!

Depends on your use. As a college student it's very aggravating. I need a dongle to charge iPhone, use flash drive, and 2 adaptors to transfer photos from camera (USB-C to A and A to SD adaptor.) What if one day I can't find the dongle? That's my fear lol Do I love my MBP? YES! Is it annoying? Heck yes.

Then you may finally come to your senses and see that you don't have to use dongles but can also buy cables instead. Something that is going to be inevitable.

It was a big enough factor for me, plus reading about other problems, that I cancelled my new MBPro and went back to windows hardware.

My friend bought a new MBPro with new touch bar and has had two keyboards go bad and is pretty fed up with it.

Just curious to know :)

So, this was one of the major problems for me. I have a lot of devices. I have monitors, I have ethernet, I have USB keyboards and mice, I have a few wireless things that use a USB dongle, I have hard drives... So I switched to a laptop with a variety of ports (including one USB-C, which I've used maybe once since I got the machine), and... It's just a huge difference in functionality for me. Anything I have lying around, I can just plug in, I don't have to go looking for adapters.

I think Apple's half-right. I do think that USB-C will win and replace the existing stuff, and eventually all my stuff will be USB-C. But right now, most of the stores I go to don't even have USB-C for most peripherals. And... Basically, the point at which everything will be USB-C is further out than the expected lifespan of the machine.

I am not a owner of the 2016 tbMBP. But it impacted my buying decision and received my new rMBP 2015 15" unit this week. So yes, the ports were a deciding factor.

It hasn't impacted my life one bit. Being one of the people who find solutions instead of whining about problems helps, but in general I have replaced the cables I need, and bought a few adapters which means I'm set.

Actually using my laptop for my livelihood dictates that I have whatever I need with me whenever I need it. Life is as easy as you choose to make it.

Obviously this may not apply to everyone, but then again, you buy what you need and that should be it.
