PowerBook Pro Humming?

Sound reassuring, thanks for all the answers. I can cope with hard drive noise, it was the constant humming of the fans I was afraid of.

Snorby.

I have the same problem, I left it back to the dealer twice, he can do nothing with it.
I was 3 Days outside the warranty. Does any one know a cure for it, it is driving me mad...

Mine just started giving me a tiny "power buzz" which I think is coming from the power supply.

Nothing major, but a little annoying on such a silent system.

The MP is an incredibly quiet computer. I had a G5 1.8 previously and it was much, much louder. However, as previously mentioned by other posts the DVD/CD Rom (Optiarc model - came with the MP) is ridiculously noisy and clunky, as is the loading tray mechanism. The Hard drives also are noisy but only because the machine itself is almost inaudible. I use it in a recording studio and it's fantastic, almost no mic bleed! Anyone remember the 'wind tunnel' G4's.... :)

My Mac Pro is silent as heck, the only thing that makes a noise is the HDD. People who updated to the newest firmware know just HOW noisy the Mac Pro COULD be but its amazing how silent it actually is.

All my fans spin at below 700RPM and they can never be heard.

Yeah, even my MacBook Pro is noisier when under load.
