So, when I play songs, iTunes automatically adds them to library. I do not want it to do that... How can I change that preference?

in itunes preferences, selected "advanced" and uncheck "copy files to itunes music folder when adding to library." i believe that should just cause itunes to play the music files wherever they are on your hard drive without adding them to your music library...

Anything played in iTunes is always added to the Library no matter what, but if you meant how to stop it from copying or moving the file to your iTunes Music folder, you can change that in the Preferences under Advanced. Look for "Copy the files to the iTunes Music Folder when adding to Library" and turn it off.
