I actually turned off the 3D Touch. not a fan of it. I hated it when I needed to rearrange the icons on my screen or when trying to open new tabs/links in the background -- like from this website. I would get 50-50 % success rate when trying to do that. I also had a hard time opening the link, sometimes I would have to click few times before something would register and open.

I am perfectly fine using my phone the way I used my other iPhone's, so this feature server zero benefit to me.

Also haven't used it much. I have found a couple of very good uses for it though. Heard and song and wanted to Shazam it, I was able to do it right from the icon with 3D Touch instead of opening app, waiting for it to load then hitting button.

Another is find my iPhone. I have a work iPhone and an iPad Air 2 in addition to my 6S Plus and I occasionally lose them around the house. I used to go into find my iPhone app. Wait for it to locate the devices. Pick which one I was looking for from the device list, then choose play sound. With 3D Touch I play sound right from the icon on the home screen by device.

3D Touch will be great once the devs get creative and its use is widespread. Definitely not a gimmick just not supported enough YET.

I honestly don't think I have used it once, more of a gimmick to me than anything. I can see some useful uses of it but overall..blah
Gimmicks such as live photos and 3D Touch are good substitutes for innovation. Perhaps in another year or two as more 3D Touch equipped iPhones hit the market and app developers build for it the usage will increase. The good news for now is Apple has done well with anything having a catchy name. I wouldn't put it past Apple to craft a great story about fierce demand for these two. A story that will be revered in AppleLand.

I use it solely for app switcher. It's awesome for single hand usage.
I can't get the app switcher to work more than 5% of the time. I think it may be because I have screen protector and I'm still getting used to the bigger screen of the 6+. It's a shame because that's about the only thing I want/remember to use 3D Touch for.

I didn't get the 6s, so I'm not going to vote in the poll, but after observing my coworker with his 6s, I feel like I would use 3D Touch frequently for some things and not at all for others. For example, quickly starting a text from the home screen, getting insta-directions home on Maps, or taking a new picture with Instagram. Outside of those 3, I don't think I'd use any of the other shortcuts from the home screen, but of course I could be wrong since I don't personally own one.

The only "useless" 3D touch gimmick to me is the "press hard on the home screen to see your live picture move" one. That doesn't make sense to me. Partly because Touch ID is insanely fast if you unlock with the home button so you won't even see the picture, and partly because if you DO use the lock/wake button to wake up the phone, who wants to have to press hard on the screen to see it move? In my opinion, it would be much better if the picture moved each time you woke up the screen. 3D Touching the screen would instead change the background to a different live picture, or maybe start a little slideshow.

I just think the live pictures' potential is a little wasted because I know I would seldom press on the lock screen, and would much rather see it move automatically each time it's woken up like on the Apple Watch.

Have you tried setting 3d touch sensitivity to light? You can find the setting under Accessibility.
