OK. This was NOT supposed to be a thread about sex.

I see my mistake now.

I see what you did there

??

I wish I didn't bang my watch face against things, but it's inevitable. I'm very careful, but as I said, I tend to bump it up against something at least 3-4 times a week. No marks so far...and I have the Sport model.

I love when people shoehorn their own experiences into a "how many people xyz?" question.

<snip>

Why people? Just say what happened to you and others will commiserate or not. It doesn't need to become a Gallup poll.

Maybe some people are just interested in other people's experiences.

Certainly I'm curious to know which "high-risk" activities people have managed without damaging their Watch and which ones have surprisingly caused harm to it. I consider this information useful, and generally of interest.

Without threads focused on sharing personal experience, the Watch forum would be dead these days. Until wOS 2.0 comes out, there's not really a lot new to talk about otherwise.

I'm probably Jinxing myself but i haven't banged/knocked it yet in the past 3 weeks since I got it, wearing daily.

Humbly spoken and I don't mean to repeat myself since I've already said this in another thread, but I'm a professional skydiver and my Watch has now experienced 141 skydives with no noticeable effects. I've banged it in the aircraft (not too hard though) and I don't have any scratches on it yet. (Sport model)

I've got a few times during the day when I inevitably hit my watch face on something. Like, for instance, when I take my safety belt off when I get out of my car. It seems the metal clip on the belt is JUST the right length so that the clip bangs against my watch face each time I take it off.

So far, no harm done...but I have to train myself to remove my safety belt differently to keep it from happening somehow.

So, does anyone else have their typical collisions with the watch face in their day to day activities?

Very often and I annoys me. That's why I bout SS.

Haven't hit my watch face on anything yet. I don't typically bang my wrists against things, though, so that probably helps. I've had it for a couple/few weeks.

Beyond typical activities of a software engineer with large dogs and a family, I lift weights daily and engage in regular, rigorous trail running.

Well, that certainly qualifies as both high-risk and a sport! Delighted to know it's holding up so readily; it bodes well for my far more pedestrian (and I mean that literally) lifestyle...

a few times a week. I think it was silly for Apple to not to design a protective frame around the watch face. The glass is raised up with zero protect of course it's going to get scratched and knocked.

For the money I am assuming the cut sapphire used will offset this. I have had more traditional watches use this and no scratches over the years. One watch saw several years of (ab)use when I served in the military and I didn't take it off when doing more manual tasks that saw higher chance of getting banged up. For the money I am assuming Apple's standards are close to say victorinox/swiss army sapphire wise.

Raised bezel like a traditional watch I imagine would could have issues registering end of frame finger touching. I use traditional watches and even getting in to clean around the bezel/glass interface area can be some work.this just to get a damp clothe to reach it...not even looking for precision reading of pressing.

If a concern there is an old standby military trick to be of use. Rotate the watch face around to have the face on the underside of your wrist not the top. Oddly enough for many people you will find any banging will occur on top of wrist if doing more manual things. Even basic using a screwdriver I find has you prefer even subconsciously to bang the upper wrist and not the underside if it has to happen. KNow from years of shade tree mechanic work..it my knuckles and upper wrist that get the scrapes and bruises...not the softer underside.

I bang watches like crazy, broke the crystal on my previous watch a couple times. This is why I went for the DLC and Sapphire on the SBSS. I've banged this on metal fences (iron even!), door jams, walls, etc.. not a scratch on it.

depends on how polite it is to me and if dinner was good... but seriously I'm fairly careful with my gadgets and haven't banged it yet, it's bound to happen but with the SS I feel much less worried as I can buff out scratches

I just got my first chip on the glass. Grazed it on a brick bridge while walking briskly.

.

Tried to put it in a touch armor case but it was too hard to use the crown. 8-(. At least I have AppleCare plus and can now worry a bit less.

I've really only hit it once real hard against concrete and there's two tiny nicks near the top. Thankfully hardly notice it. It's the Watch Sport so not as tough as the Sapphire screen, though I understand it's better in sunlight. ;)
