I'm just worried that since it takes its only rated to about 500 charge cycles (don't quote me) that charging daily will shorten the battery's life. I a daily charge average amongst most?

I only need 365 cycles until the launch of the new new iPad. :p

I charge nightly btw. A cycle is from 0 to 100. If you recharge it twice from 50 to 100, that counts as one cycle.

Poster said up above, a cycle is from 100 - 0. I definitely don't use 100% of my battery every day, on a good day I would say maybe 50%, so I would personally get around 1,000 charges.

Do you think it is good practice to drain it all the way to zero every time before recharging or is charging nightly regardless its current charge safe to do?

You will get different points of view on whether or not you should let the battery drain to 0 once in a while. Personally I will let it drain to 0 around once a month in order to calibrate the battery. 95% of the time I will just charge it every night once I am done using it.

This does not calibrate the battery, it calibrates the percent charged display. It's actually harder on the battery than constantly topping it up and if done often will shorten the battery life. This "shock" to the battery stresses it more than topping up often from a partial charge.

He makes a good point. It's the power management that gets calibrated to the battery.

I charge it overnight whenever it gets to about 30 or 40. I occasionally do it in the middle of the day if I know im going to need more juice that night. I end up charging it every 3 days or so.

I've only charged once so far when I let it run until it shuts itself off. Charged it until it was 45% then took it off to use around town shopping and stuff. It's at 21% as I type and I'll charge it before I sleep. I'll charge it nightly unless it's over 50% or no school night.
