usualy in an 8 hour work day i have my iphone running for about 6 hours of music, sending texts here and there, so i charge every night.

No specific schedule. I usually have my iPhone plugged to my MacBook when I'm at my desk at home. I also plug it into my workstation (Linux box) at work to charge.

Every night or when needed. There's absolutely nothing wrong with it being plugged in for as long as you want... you can't over-charge these things and it's actually better for the battery to be topped off more often. Running the battery all the way down all the time will decrease the battery life (only a limited number of charge cycles in lithium-ion batteries). So, instead of letting it sit at night slowly draining for no reason (using charge cycles)... just plug it in. Charge often.

At least twice a day. Sometimes 3 times.

I can't understand the "every other day" people.

One day I only used my phone for about an hour, and on that day it lasted on standby for about 30 hours. Are there really people out there who regularly use their phone less than 30 minutes a day??

Once a day such a pain. :(

What's a pain about plugging it at night while you sleep?

I charge mine every night like a lot of people in this thread. While it's not a huge pain, it can be inconvenient at times. I came from a Sony Ericsson phone that would last 5-6 days before needing to be charged. I could go away for a weekend, go camping, or sleep over at a friends without being worried about my phone needing charging.

I charge mine nightly as well. I usually only text, but I mean A LOT of texting.. I have been using close to 18000 messages a month. I leave 3G off unless Im browsing the internet and I normally go to bed with about 8 hours of usage, 14-16 hours of stand-by with about 25-40% depending on how much internet time I used.

18000 messages a month?? I'd like to see your data sheet! If this is true, you need to see somebody for that, possibly cell phone rehab?

Wow, that's impressive. Assuming he is awake about 16 hours a day, that means his sends/receives a text approximately every other minute everyday of the month. Really getting your money out of that unlimited text plan, huh?

I generally charge it every night, but I could still use it if I didn't. I do sometimes regret it if I forget to/don't charge it because it goes down to between 20-10%. :)

I don't generally use it heavily now that there's a bit less of a newness/coolness factor. I usually don't like to see the battery meter go down so I prefer to overcharge than to undercharge. (figuratively, of course...the battery charge cycle is a complete 100% charge regardless of how the percentages are divided up) :)

Plug in everyday morn when i wake up till i goto office, would have discharged between 10-25% through the day. Once in a month complete discharge and charge overnight, switched off.

haha you did the math!! nice! lol

Not really. Since the cell companies can receive and deliver texts for nearly free, any cost is too much.

Seriously. Google it, you'll be amazed just how badly they're screwing people over on texts.

HAHA yeah, My bill cycle just ended last night and so far my count was just about 17890. And it still didn't post all of yesterdays... So I'm assuming it will end up with about 18400.

I hardly ever talk on the phone, maybe 10 minutes a month at the most. So I'm always just texting. Now having the iPhone it is so much easier to send more messages, unlike my old LG phone. With that I sent roughly around 5000-6000.

Question: Why charge it every OTHER day? What's the point of leaving it just sitting overnight and using up battery unnecessarily? Just put it on the charger before you go to bed, wake up with a full battery.

Once a day - I'll leave it plugged in while I'm at the computer. I get decent battery life and on a heavy day use up about half the battery so I can't complain.

I calculated that I send around 2 messages a minute for about 6-8 hours a day for 30 days I can use up to around 30,000 a month. ;)

and at $.15 a message that would be over $4400... So yeah, a 20 dollar unlimited messaging plan, is perfect.

Mine sit's in the dock all night, and unless I am walking around using it, it's on charge all day next to the laptop at work and plugs into the car when I am driving between the two.

Otherwise I get about 2 1/2 hours use out of it :(

Because most times I still have a full battery. Imagine that.

I could probably even go an extra day.
