How much does Apple charge for a battery replacement?
This was a few years back and it was a 2010 cMBP which is super easy to change: $125

The newer one are more as the battery is glued to the keyboard bottom I believe. So, maybe post which year/model you want to consider changing and then others can comment further.

2018 MBP 13

13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display$199

Apple has determined that, in a limited number of 13-inch MacBook Pro (non Touch Bar) units, a component may fail causing the built-in battery to expand. This is not a safety issue and Apple will replace eligible batteries, free of charge. Affected units were manufactured between October 2016 and October 2017 and eligibility is determined by the product serial number.

Do you bother changing the battery or do you just replace your MBP outright?
It's free when your keyboard begins to act up ha. That means so far I have replaced the battery after one year!
Seriously though, on my 2011 I never replaced the battery even after 7 years, though I did not often use it off power. I think I had about 500-600 cycles after 7 years.

$199 for battery service out of warranty through Apple.

I replace my batteries when practicable unless the new shiny thing is really calling my name. On my MBPs I normally try to extend the life as long as I can.
