Buy several new ones each year....Last years models go to the kids, the others get sold or I hold them until the model is no longer sold.... go in for OOW replacement and pay the extra for the newer model.

Every couple of years. This year I'm going for the iPhone 6s Plus :D

I want to do it every year, of course, but then I realize I can push a bit more time out of my current device, even if it is a 5s with a tiny 4" display.

It's called conspicuous consumption.
Buy more
Buy at higher prices
And buy often

When I feel like it, but my last three iPhones on launch day. Skip the S models though because the upgrade is not normally significant enough for me.
However to the OP, why are you concerned when I upgrade? We are all at a different position in our life. I'm fortunate enough to be able to buy what I want when I want, others more or less so. But who cares? Just buy a phone when you want to not when you think you should.

Every year buy the new one when it comes out and sell the old one. Can't seem to get off of the merry-go-round.

With phones and computers, I typically use them until they become slow, glitchy, new software is not available, etc. So I am still using my iPhone 4 (yes, not even a 4S), which is over 4 years old now. I am planning to buy an iPhone 6 next month.

Just gave my 6 to my little sister. Went and bought a new 5s. No regrets. Love this form factor.

Every two years. I think it strikes a nice balance between always having a fairly recent phone and upgrading often without breaking the bank.

My laptop is in its fifth year now, so that'll probably be upgraded this year along with buying an Apple Watch. I already essentially have a direct pipeline from my bank account to Apple's, I don't need to increase that by upgrading my phone every year too :p

I was always every 2 years. I would skip the S models. However my telco now offers free upgrades every 12 months so will now be getting the 6s.

Had my original iPhone up until iPhone 4, then had each phone each year. This year though I think I'm sticking with the 6+ for the time being. Not getting the next one, ill have to see what the one after is like. I used to hand down the last model to my S/O, but this year she got a 6 and me a 6+.

She's the type though that would use a phone until it couldn't be used anymore.

Every year.

With the financing options that the carriers offer now it doesn't even make sense to wait for the traditional two years anymore.

Just because you are paying smaller payments over a longer period of time doesn't mean you are not spending the money.

2 years but right now im on the third year on my galaxy s3, iphone 6 didn't convinced me, then i waited for galaxy s6, now they are saying both battery lifes are pretty similar...sigh. Makes me wonder if i should wait for the iphone 6s now..

Well, so far it has been the original iPhone, 3GS, 4, 4S, 5, 5S, and now the 6 plus. I will probably keep this one until the 7 comes out.

i still have the iphone 5. considering upgrading to samsung s6 or the iphone 6s/7/whatever its gonna be called (depending on what upgrades they make)

Pretty much every two years. Went from the 3GS to the 4S, to the 5S and now the iPhone 6. I will most likely keep this phone until the iPhone 7 comes out. :)
