How often do you use your 13" MBP's optical drive? Please vote in the poll
I use it barely ever. I wish Apple would ditch the optical drive already
Rarely, if ever.
I think this could apply to any size
I use it, often for games and for burning CDs, its the only reason why I didn't hop on to a MBA already. Maybe soon though!
I wish i didnt have one in here... would be a lot nicer without it.
Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_2_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8C148a Safari/6533.18.5)
Almost daily. Still working on importing a collection of CDs. 3000 imported...
So far it seems that most people never or almost never use their optical drive with the occasional person who uses it a lot. Not a lot of support for the optical drive anymore
The same topic for 15' mbp would have the majority of votes for using dvd drive.
Got my MacBook in august and used it once to reinstall the os.
With the mac app store and iTunes, there's really is no need for it anymore!
...And steam for gaming
I have an older 15 MBP and use an external drive quite often for burning home video DVDs/BDs or ripping commercial DVDs/CDs for iTunes. It drives me crazy that I have to carry around the weight and bulk of the SuperDrive, since I never use it on the go.
I'm planning on getting a MBP 13 in the next couple of months and really hope the SD gets pulled to make room for a larger motherboard with MPB 15/17 class CPU/GPU. If it does not get pulled I'll remove it myself. so that I can have a RAID 0/1 SSD set-up.
On my 15" and 17" MBP's I hardly ever use it.
From time to time, mostly to load an OS (windows/linux/OSX) or to load software. I don't use it at all for music/movies or creating dvds/cds
Mostly for importing CDs into iTunes. I'm old fashioned and I buy music on CD instead of the iTunes store. I also use RipIt now and then to put a movie on the HD to watch it while I travel.
I never use mine in the 15". I wish they kill it already.
I took mine out at one point, the mbp felt unbalanced and too heavy on one side without it, so I put it back in. So it's basically dead weight. I may replace it with a second SSD if the next MBPs don't impress me enough to upgrade.
Family has 2 Macbooks 15 & 17" , think i might of used it 2-3 time combined in 6 months.
I use it every God damned day!
j/k I don't have a MB yet, but I will soon and I do plan to use it.
