Coming from a Fitbit charge 2 which continuously monitored HR. Looks like Apple Watch can do it as soon as every 3 minutes when resting? Does this sound correct? Or should it be more often?

I believe it takes it every 10 minutes unless doing a workout then it is continuous

I've seen this. But it still doesn't really answer my question. Just says when it can take a more accurate heart rate.
....but that is the same info we all have and no one can tell you anything more other than about every 10 minutes or so. I could call Tim and ask but will have to wait until tomorrow after Thanksgiving weekend.:D

Disregarding battery life, is there some way to force it to automatically read more often, like every minute? I've downloaded a few apps, but, they don't do anything to automatically force it to read HR more often.

Thanks.

With Cardiogram app you can see your hr data. Here's example of one hour measurements (upper graph). It's not 10 minutes. I think it depends how you move also. 6-10 minutes. Sometimes more often.

watchOS 3.0 (Maybe 2.2) changed it from 10 minutes to 5 minutes. Your watch will attempt to take one reading every 5 minutes as long as you aren't moving. I believed they changed it form 10 to 5 minutes because no one sits completely still for 10 minutes straight, so it was never reading. 5 minutes is more reasonable.
