I bought a refurb in August 2008. I'm not sure which version it is, but the model ID is iMac8,1. At any rate, I'm self-employed, and it's my main work machine. Still going strong, as is Snow Leopard. The only change I've made is doubling the RAM to 4 GB.

3 Years old... But as they say, it isn't the age, it's the mileage that is the problem...

I have a July 2010 i3 21 incher with 16gig of ram and 500gig HDD. It's still a nice machine for productivity/web design but it's getting a bit painful to use graphic intensive apps or games on it. Even WoW Mist of Pandaria have me reduce the graphic bling down to stay near 60fps.

I'm thinking of replacing it with a new 27" but i can't justify the price tag at the moment, especially since I have a Dell XPS8500SE i7 fully loaded right beside it for Blender and video transcoding.

Mid 2011 here still running lion on purpose. I dual boot mountain lion, and I will use it until I get to colledge, I'm almost 15, and then I will either get a MacBook, or build a hackintosh, or even run Mac osx or 11 whatever's out then on a pc notebook.

I bought my 2011 27" iMac with the i7, getter graphics card and 16gb ram in fall of 2012. I had been waiting for the new one for ages but as college rolled around i pulled the trigger.

I AM SO GLAD THAT I DID!!!!

I think the new one is a downgrade with its lack of optical drive and minor spec bump. I love my imac and plan on using it at least 3 years before upgrading it.

I am however going to get a 15" retina macbook pro this summer. (CANT WAIT!!!!)
