I tend to baby mine.

Even take it off, to do certain things.

I do actually have OCD, which doesn’t help, and I’m overly protective with most things.

How about you? Are you overprotective, or do you just put it on and “forget” it?

Ultra with Space Black Link Bracelet. I ALWAYS have a sweatband in my pocket and put it on over the watch whenever I use my home gym, gardening, D.I.Y, etc. Even cooking.

May be overkill but it's a simple way to help keep it pristine and it soon becomes second nature whenever I do any of those activities.

Glad I’m not the only one.

The sweatband idea is quite clever.

I use aluminium ones so I'm relatively careful because of the ion-x display. As careful as I am with any of my watches. So far so good. I don't take it off or cover it but I try to not bash it about.

I voted 'rough with it', even though I have one of the most expensive versions - the 45mm titanium Series 7 edition. I do have AppleCare+

I've always been rough within mine, only removing them for painting or potential contact with very aggressive chemicals (very rare!).

Unfortunately, Apple Watches are quite disposable. Between the practically-non-replaceable battery, and 5-6 years of software support, there's really no point in keeping your watch pristine for 10 years. Use it up, recycle, get a new one.

I'm more careful with my other Apple products. But unlike Macs and even iPhones that can last 10 years and easily be resold or serviced, the Apple Watch has horrible resale value, horrible battery health after a few years, and will inherently be exposed to more cosmetic damage just due to the nature of how a watch is used.

I've got a first-generation Apple Watch SE, and I've been fairly rough with it. It's got a few scratches after a few years but nothing really major.

I wouldn’t say I baby it, but I do like to relatively take care of my AW. I wipe the case at least 1-2 times a day while it’s on my wrist and then do a thorough wipe down at night before I place it on the charger. But I do have AC+ on it in case something does happen to it — which it has once when my toddler got hold of it.

I tend to baby mine, however, that's no different with other products I own. I've been trying to work on that since I'm sure it's not all too healthy to get so caught up in maintaining the appearance of material things. The impermanence of it all.

I have a Series 5 in polished gold stainless steel, still as pristine as new. I am careful with it, but wear it ever day, all day.

I’m surprised by the results. I have an ultra - saphire screen - and I actually have a scratch on it already.

I chewed up the aluminum version, but I am constantly outside scrambling over rocks, chainsaw, boats, hiking, hunt, fish, and generally could not afford to care about what is on my wrist.

That’s why I was absolutely thrilled to see the ultra. I wasn’t going to buy another aluminum watch and was prepared to go with the stainless series 7 if the ultra was $1k.

I’m amazed that people care so much. If you care THAT much, get the SS or Ti versions.

It’s a personal preference, I understand, but I cannot help but judge someone a little when they wear a case on their watch. Just saying. Nothing personal, just blows my mind.

My attitude is it a watch and I will use and not worry about any potential abuse it will suffer from my wrist and hands. I am one of those that went with the original until it would no longer hold a charge and then I bought a new Series 8, 41 MM GPS only and only reason was I wanted to monitor my health.

Since I am retired I probably give the watch way less abuse then when I worked in an industrial work environment. Earlier this week I was pawn shopping to kill some time and I happened upon a deal for a 44 MM series 6 cellular watch. The deal was too sweet to pass as it cost me only $125.00 for it. I grabbed that right away and when I got home I checked out the watch and paired it to my phone and the battery was 99%. Now I have a 2nd watch to abuse and not use the series 8 when I am working in the yard. I think I am going to go back to that pawn shop again.

+1 on the sweatband.

Use one regularly when I know I am doing something potentially that may damage the Watch (gardening, DIY etc). Otherwise just wear it as a watch. Don’t wear my leather bands for stuff like that either, sports bands on those days.

I don’t baby it, but I suppose I think about what I am doing.

I have an Ultra so I just use it without worrying at all. If scratches, well, it’s a watch so…

I’ve never babied mine since my first Apple Watch. I’m using the S7 Titanium one and despite its costly price, I’ve never given it extra care compared to my previous Aluminium models. The titanium body and the sapphire crystal stood against all adversities. I’ve knocked my watch on metallic surfaces, dropped the watch from waist height numerous times and it’s still looking pristine.

Hey Pug, can you share a photo?

Same watch here. It has taken a licking and still absolutely looks like new. It was bought on intro day and still shows 100% battery health. If Apple does not come out with something new and interesting I might keep it for it third year! The watch is tough!

I used to try to be careful with my Apple Watches when I used the scratch prone aluminum models, but now since I have a Gold SS Series 6 with the Sapphire screen it gets banged around just as much if not more and has no scratches at all to this day. I also have AppleCare+ in case some drastic damage does happen somehow.

It’s a tool

So I take care of it just as I take care of my tools, you can tell a good deal about a man by how he takes care of his shop and tools

I don’t live my life around it, but I try not to damage it, if I’m going to be wrenching on something I’ll take it off, I don’t have it in the bathroom when I take a shower, or in a hot tub, etc

Same as any time piece
