So Apple just announced that pre-orders for the 3rd generation iPad will be available today. Does anyone remember how long you were able to preorder and still receive your iPad on day one in the previous years?

The earliest I could pre-order would be this upcoming Monday, but I fear that may be too late.

is there a limit of 2 per customer if you pre-order online? or is that only for store purchases?

when exactly does the pre-order start today? I have night classes at 6-9pm. Did they say exactly what time today?

Pretty safe bet. If you "need" it on launch day then you're probably gonna have to try and stand in line.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; CPU iPhone OS 5_0_1 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/534.46 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.1 Mobile/9A405 Safari/7534.48.3)

When are you able to preorder? The Apple website isnt showing anything about the iPad 3.

And, because this question always comes up, YOU CAN use a debit card as long as it has a Visa/Master Card logo on it!

OK, then, which model of the 9 or so being released is likely to be LEAST popular and therefor take longer to sell out? I presume it would be one of the fully loaded 4G models?

Base model, 16GB either White or Black is most likely going to be the first to go.

The white verison 64g 3g models will probably be the easiest to get on day 1. They were last year.
