How realistic is it to carry the Mini from Home to Work on a daily basis?

Is there any concern about wear and tear for the power outlet over time? It's not designed the way a USB cable port is to be constantly plugged in and out. That may be something for you to consider as well.

It'll work fine, but you might find it a bit tedious to have to shut down/restart every morning and evening. A laptop can be connected with just a single cable (into a powered dock/hub) and will wake instantly from sleep. And if you might ever need to quickly use your Mac between work and home, even for just a few minutes, a laptop might be a better choice.
