I have put Windows on an external M2 Nvme drive for the second time. And it has failed to load first saying it needs to repair it,then it comes to a halt and the drive stays solid blue.I have been using the same drive for some time and in time had the same problems with it,So i decided to start from scratch and put a new install of Windows on it Is it Windows of the enclosure?
This is the enclosure
SSK Aluminum M.2 NVME SSD Enclosure Adapter, USB 3.1 Gen 2 (10 Gbps) to NVME PCI-E M-Key Solid State Drive External Enclosure (Fits only NVMe PCIe 2242/2260/2280)
I have a felling the problem is with Windows what do you think?

Never had a problem with the drives, but have never used them like that. (long term external) I've had M2's for a very long time and NVMe for a bit on Windows systems and haven't had a failure like that yet.

I'd suspect USB or the enclosure itself.

I can't imagine that an OS (be it Windows or any other OS) can break a disk (be it a mechanical one or an SSD). I can imagine that the problem lies more with other factors (overheating maybe?). M2 Nvme drives tend to get very hot.

I had it on there for some time and kept on having problems with Windows ,saying it was repairing etc.Sometimes the drive light went out at other times it stays on blue.
Yes they do get very hot.
But have never had that problem with my thunderbolt drives which are used more than the SSK drive.

I have tried it in different USB ports i new that was not the problem .I have put it in another excluder it did the same thing Preparing to repair and took me to the options page i clicked continue and it worked. :)I think that was the luck of the draw ,Windows has a mind of its own.Weather or not it will work next time is another thing all together.o_OIt did the same thing :confused:But it has just worked again ,it is very weird.o_OTried it again and same problem,i will give up on it.
