How scratch resistant is iPhone 8/8+?

Spent too much money for my iPhone 8+, so I have a screen protector and a good case just to be on the safe side. Someday Apple will make a phone that will be scratch resistant that we can count on. Not holding my breath. Seen far too many drop test now that shows that the so-called Harder glass is prone to some scratching and cracking.
exactly the same as the iphone 7 based on tests. there has been zero improvement for scratch resistance.
I already have a tiny scratch. Only noticeable in the right light and from certain angles, but damn that was quick.
I think it also depends on how hard you are on your phone. I don't use cases and I don't have any scratches today. But for those who are more rugged with their iPhones, a screen protector and case would be a good idea.
Can anyone recommend good screen protectors. Just got a refurbished iPhone 8 Plus from the Apple Store. The faulty one had lots of tiny scratches on the screen so don’t want to have the happen again. The screen protector I have put on is ok but makes the phone look tacky ☹️
