Whenever I start a timer on my phone, it shows on the Lock Screen. I love that feature.
Whenever I start a timer on my watch, it just disappears. I don't like using the Siri face, and I don't like having a timer complication just for the few occasions where I set a timer. And if I don't use the Siri face or have a timer complication, how can I see the timer? Do I really have to open the timer app on the watch?

I just wished the watch would be smarter.. Show me the timer if I have set a timer, otherwise don't show it. Show me the upcoming alarm if I have set an alarm, otherwise don't show it. Is this really only available with the Siri face? What I don't like is that this face has gotten no love at all from Apple, no additional features or colors in years.

Where do you want it to show? You don't want a timer complication, but where do you want the timer to show?

I'm also curious to learn if this is possible...

Most faces can have like 2-3 complications. It just feels silly to waste 1/3 for a timer that I use maybe once per day. And then just another 1/3 for an alarm that I use once per day. However, in 2022 I would have hoped that the watch would be smart enough to serve me the information that is most relevant for me at the moment. Turns out, this is only possible with the Siri face. Which is a big bummer.

I dream of a large complication in the modular watch face that is not static. Show alarm if there is an alarm. Show timer if there is a timer. Show calendar if there is an event coming up. Again, it's kinda weird that this is only possible with the Siri face. The big downside for me is that the Siri face only supports a single complication. And that is only supports 2 color schemes.

What do you mean by "it just disappears"? It always stays displayed for me when I start a timer using the app on my watch, even after when I cover the screen to dim the display. Not sure if it makes a difference, but I'm pretty much using all default settings...'Always On' display is on, and 'Return to Clock' is 2 minutes (the timer app overrides this when a timer is going).

If it does disappear on me when I open another app or push the crown, I can get back to it quickly by going into the app switcher (or raise my wrist to ask Siri), rather than scrolling through the list of apps.

But what if you have a timer the same time as an alarm, and what if you even have an event at the same time?
(And by the way, you can let it show a running timer when you race your wrist. Look through your watch settings.)

EDIT:
iStorm above already gave the answer.

The timer should stay on the screen as long as you don't leave the app; or if you have your display set to go off, it should show again when you wake it up.

If you're starting the timer using Siri, then yeah...you need to open the app for it to show, but you can do this with Siri too. I do all this hands-free while giving my dog a bath. I raise my wrist and say "Start timer xx minutes", then "Open Timer". The timer stays displayed for the remainder of his bath.

Or if you don't want to do that, why not create an additional watch face containing the timer complication to switch to when you are needing it. Just swipe left or right to go through your watch faces; or if you have a lot of them, long press the display and use the digital crown to scroll through them all.

You may have already thought of these...just some ideas if you haven't.
