All I can say is that I had a sleep apnea test but with a bulky gizmo over my face, so I hardly slept. Those who talk about the absolute need for SpO2: what about EEG electrodes to make sure you're actually asleep? Even the medical grade devices for diagnosing sleep apnea do not measure everything. Medicine often uses proxy measurements in the preliminary stages of diagnosis and the Apple Watch would be no different. I am sure Apple will be careful about the language (e.g., 'You have some signs of sleep apnea, we recommend that you see your health care provider').
