My upload speed on cable is capped at 30 Mbps, but realistically it's more like 25-28 Mbps. According an online calculator, my 420 GB Photos library could be uploaded in about 1.5 days if running at that speed.

However, after a full day, only about 10% of the database has been uploaded so far. Is Photos the bottleneck? Should it really take over a week?

Machine is a Core i5-7600 iMac with 1 TB SSD. Internet is Rogers cable 1 Gbps down, 30 Mbps up. Wired Ethernet connection for iMac.

Does it make a difference if the Photos application is open or closed?

I have set the machine to never sleep. Hopefully that helps.

Also, why are videos and images being converted? Is this for thumbnails, etc?
