I use it connected to a portable 4k monitor often and it's fairly stable... haven't encountered any major bugs. Only issue i found comes from using App Library... it's lags due to a heavy animation load.

But whenever you run a beta... battery life is going to take a hit. But other than that... I find it stable enough to use, if it wasn't Apple wouldn't release a public beta.

I don’t use an external display so I can’t comment on that. But, overall this is as seamless as ios 18 was on my M4. No lagging, in fact it is much faster in most responses than ever. If your main concern is using it with an external display then you might need additional feedback before deciding. But if that’s not your primary concern you should have no issues. However, all experiences will depend on the specific user, and what apps are being used. I use this ipad all day long, very rarely use my mac anymore, and I’ve been extremely pleased.

I bought an iPad 13.3” last year because I speculated that iPad OS where going to be useful for other things than just consuming media, now we are finally there. Not as good as Mac OS but it is working. I installed iPad OS 26 this week.

My experience has not been positive from a performance aspect. I have a lot of crashes and spinning wheels. My google meet app instantly crashes, couldn’t connect on a work meeting at all today with my iPad, I needed to use my iPhone on the most recent prior software. Safari crashes a lot and reboots.
From the other end, I really like the newer multitasking aspect. I don’t mount an external drive so I can’t comment on that. I do use a cheapo non 4k external monitor and it has been fine in usage.

Not only laggy, heat and battery life issues for me too, so this looks like some actual CPU/GPU load issue. I hope it’s not due to the whole liquid glass thing because then we’re in trouble.

Have you disabled that AI rubbish?

Those of you who reported poor performance, are you using M4 iPad Pro or other lower spec iPad?

Is it indexing perhaps? It usually takes a day or two for this to calm down in my experience, but that was with previous OS versions.
