    Hi everybody,

just a quick inquiry. How stable is Motion running on your system? I am kind of disappointed. I have a 2009 17" MBP with Leopard and Motion crashes roughly 4-5 times an hour - depending of course what I do. I have Version 4.0.0. I recently upgraded from FCE but I can't help thinking that with Motion some serious work is almost impossible. Sometimes it will freeze or crash when simply previewing some effects from the library or playing a movie which runs as a background. Not impressed by this gem.

Very graphics card intensive application. There are many tricks to running it on anything other than a mac pro.

    1. regularly 'bake' your file (export it, uncheck the original clip components (don't delete them though) and re-import)

    2. work at a lower resolution (draft quality etc.)

    3. avoid making your project 3d for as long as you possibly can... that tends to be what kills it!

    4. utilise RAM previews.

    5. restart the machine completely and only open motion.

    6. finally save regularly!!

Ideally it's the kind of program (like Color) that is made for a Mac Pro.
