How the Dock should have looked

Love Snow Leopard - Apple nailed the UI. Except for the 3D Dock. The 3D is alright, but the default style could have used some work.

Doesn't look any better or worse than the standard Dock in my opinion. And that's what it really boils down to... opinion.

I think this is a matter of preference and many design attempts have been made that far exceed your design. Really, to each their own here, much like those who use geektool scripts to add time, weather and calendar functionality to their desktop which would otherwise be covered by application windows.

It isn't my design. And this one seems rather fitting because it actually matches an important element of the OS.
