I’m considering buying an iPhone 12 Pro and will most likely be using it caseless. I was able to drill out the underside of my nightstand and installed a wireless charger in it so I just have to put my phone down on the surface and it charges. I pretty much know where it is, but I still have to do a little searching to hit the sweet spot. With the MagSafe I was wondering if the magnet would at least help center the phone through less than a 1/4” of wood. Possible?

Make it as thin as possible. Apple recommends a thickness of 2.0mm (or lower if you can).

Attach as still being able to hold the iPhone in the air or just able to charge? I have tried Magsafe with Pelican Shield,Lifeproof NEXT,Spigen Tough Armor,UAG Monarch and Magsafe charging still works.

I just went ahead and got the 12 pro and the magsafe. The magnet did not attract through the wood. I didn't test the charging because it doesn't matter. I already have a solution for just charging. I wonder if I could find some very strong magnets to make the phone pop into place.

Hoping that you can find some. I heard that neodymium magnets are good and come in different sizes. Not sure it would work tho.

Did you manage to find a solution? I have almost the same exact idea as you. The only difference is that I will be using it with the (original) mag safe case... So I'm wondering if that would have "fixed" you problem.

On Youtube I've found countless videos with wireless phone chargers through nightstands and tables but none of them specific with the magsafe functionality to get the phone 'snapped' onto the center of the magsafe charger.
