Hey!

I have been looking up forums everywhere without any solution :(

I have a MacBook Pro Retina 2015 13" and an external monitor that supports 75hz refresh rate (ASUS VG245H). The monitor only has two hdmi and one via ports. Tried to connect the MacBook and the monitor with a Hdmi 2.0 cable from MacBook hdmi out to monitor hdmi in. Only got 60hz :( Found out that the hdmi out on the MacBook is limited to 60hz. Then i tried it with an adapter from mini dp to hdmi and my hdmi 2.0 cable. Only got 60hz limit again :( The adapter is capable of 75hz at 1440P. I am seeing 144hz, 120hz, 75hz at 1440p left right and center all across all kind of forums but i have no clue why "simple" full hd and 75hz combination isn't working here?
So i went to my neighbor with the monitor and my Hdmi cable to double check. Maybe the cable has a flaw. Connected the monitor with my cable to his PC tower and was instant able to with refresh rate to 75hz.

Whats the deal? Hope somebody can explain this :(

THX

Apple may not support 75hz at all (others can jump in and correct me).

60hz might be "all you can get out of a MacBook Pro...."

Does the display work at 60hz?

Thanks for the reply!

Works fine at 60hz! I know, 15hz more is maybe not a huge deal but i was thinking: I have the hardware (external monitor) why not use it?

Apparently this MBP from 2015 can even go to 120hz at 1080p:

He uses a DVI cable. My monitor has none :( But as far as i know: DVI and Hdmi are pretty much the, only hdmi supports also audio or am i wrong here?
