I own an old parallel/SCSI scanner I'd like to use, I sadly found out that my Dual G4 PowerMac won't turn on any longer (the power button lights for a moment but it doesn't start up, I am afraid power supply gone) so I am trying to figure if there is any add-on/converter to adapt either the SCSI or parallel interface to a Mini so I won't buy another bulky piece of hardware to scan pictures.

Grazie

This one's quite expensive, I think you can find them cheaper on Amazon but this should be what you're looking for.

Of the top of my head, I think you are out of luck. I suspect that if you could even find an adapter, you'd pay almost as much as it would cost to purchase a new scanner. And even if you got one, I would question whether suitable drivers would work. This is just my opinion. Others may know of suitable solutions.

What you want is probably not worth the trouble or expense.

I'd say better options might be:
- replace the power supply in the g4 (perhaps with a used on from ebay, etc.?)
or
- buy a new scanner that is USB-based.

Scanners have improved so much since the days when they shipped with parallel and SCSI, I doubt you'll miss your old one very much.

This. Unless that's an *incredibly* high-end scanner for the era you will find a modern scanner to be a far better investment.

I only need to scan old photos for an online documentary project, the 360dpi would be way more than enough, I already have too much stuff running around, wouldn't want to add more, rather get rid of some...
