Hi.

all we know that we can tether 3G connection via usb and bluetooth.

sometimes i need to add DNS numbers to my airport or ethernet connections. but when i use USB tethering there is no option to add DNS or any other settings. If i connect via bluetooth, there is option menu. but bluetooth speed is limited almost 90 kb/s. so Bluetooth is slower than USB. But as i said there is no option at system preferences->Network when connected via USB.

isn't there anyway to add DNS when connected via USB?

Solution: Set DNS for iPhone USB

I've experienced the same issue: no DNS resolution when tethered to the iPhone via USB.

Fortunately, you can enter the following command in Terminal to set DNS servers explicitly for the iPhone USB connection:

sudo networksetup -setdnsservers "iPhone USB" 8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4
