How to adjust volume level of texts and emails?

On an iPhone 6+, is there a way to adjust the volume level of the alert sound when I get a text message or email without affecting the ringer volume at the same time?

Without jailbraking your phone unfortunately not. You can create quiter alerts in iTunes though
