How to bring iChat to the front

I just bought my first mac a few months ago, and I am frustrated with the keyboard controls - I know there is a way to bring up iChat with just a few keys while I'm on WORD or Firefox or something... on the iChat preferences there is something that says bring iChat to the front, and when I use that command nothing happens...

Also, I can't move between one chat box and the next by using the keys... am I missing something here? I'm not THAT stupid, but I've been a PC user for 22 years!

Any suggestions or help would be appreciated!

to bring a different program to the front you could use cmnd+tab. I'm not sure how to switch between chat windows though.

Command Tab to bring app to front.

While in App, Command ~
will rotate different windows. Works in many apps.
