Hello, I have a problem that I'm really stuck on! I have an MKV movie that I want to burn onto a DVD. Our DVD player is ancient, so I need to be able to burn it in a format that it'll recognize. (And buying the movie on DVD is not an option because it does not exist on DVD.)

All I want is to be able to play this movie on my ancient, crappy DVD player, with as little loss of quality as possible and as inexpensively as possible. I don't have a lot of money to spend on software right now. I've seen Wondershare and iSkysoft and they both leave watermarks unless you buy the full program. I've searched the forum and read past threads and they didn't help much. Please help! I've been at this for hours.

If it helps at all, I have a Macbook and the MKV has these specifications:
    H.264, 720 x 456 (853 x 456), Millions
    Text Subtitle (Perian), 853 x 456, Millions+
    AC3, Stereo (L R), 48.000 kHz

    I use a program called:

    ConvertXtoDVD

however, its on my windows pc

dont know it exists on mac.. or a mac alternative

it's taken me quite a while to find this.. :p works nicely..

converts nearly any video into dvd format, then copies it

    can even add subtitles ;)
