Sorry, can anyone please confirm if it's just T-Mobile devices which are unlocked?

Guys, it doesn't matter what carrier you say you want. If anything you'd want the AT&T model just because it has Band 30, but it doesn't matter. Someone at the Genius Bar even showed me because I was curious, they're in the system as '6S Band 30 Model' and '6S Non-Band 30 Model'. If you bought it full price, it's an unlocked model, and carrier name doesn't even show up in the device profile, it's just 'Unlocked'.

So literally, all you have to do is walk into an Apple Store, find someone to help you:

'Hi, I would like to buy an iPhone at full price.'
'Sure, what carrier?'

Then say AT&T if you want the Band 30 model, or literally anyone else if you don't care or they don't have it. It truly doesn't matter.

You only have to worry about locked phones when you're buying from AT&T, Sprint, and I think T-Mobile still if you buy from them rather than Apple. I stopped buying iPhones from carriers a year ago because I didn't want to deal with their bull**** anymore.

The AT&T 6S Plus that I paid full retail from Apple online was unlocked out of the box and using my T-Mobile prepaid sim with no problem.

As already stated by many, if you walk into an Apple store and purchase an iPhone at full price, it will be unlocked.
If you are still not sure, I do know that Verizon iPhones are unlocked out of the box, per FCC regulation.

That's brilliant, thank you very much for the info.

@Silver Idaten - you mention the band 30 model on AT&T, I guess if I'm using the phone in the UK I'd want to avoid that model, but all others should be okay?

No, like I said it doesn't matter. The Band 30 is the model that's identical to the one sold around the world, except it also has Band 30 in addition to everything else. I have the AT&T model, it's currently working on T-Monile, and if I did take it over to England it would work there, too.

It will work, but you have to get around Verizon's bull**** whitelist first. They've gotten better recently about that with the 6, but I'm sure that's all out the window with the 6S.
