I was wondering what the easiest way is to create a clip that basically captures the contents of the computer screen (or a portion thereof) over time. For example, the tutorial DVD that came with FCP shows the computer screen as someone is working with the applications. I assume there is a smarter way to do this than to actually film the monitor with a camera, right?

If someone can point me in the right direction, I would appreciate it!

Thanks for the links! It looks like snapzprox has some issues on Intel Macs (otherwise it looks great), but iShowU from shinywhitebox looks promising. I'll give that a try!

I have experienced an issue with my osx86 laptop. It's a gateway laptop with a celeron 1.3ghz procesor, 512mb ram, so its already unstable and underpowered without sse3 support, so i didn't blame it on the app but now im going to uninstall it.
