Hi all,

I recently transferred over the settings and files from my wife's old MacBook to a new one, using Migration Assistant. Let's say the old MacBook is named "OldMac".

Before I carried out the transfer, the computer name, for arguments sake, was NewMac. Once the transfer was complete, Migration Assistant had renamed it OldMac.

No problem, I went into sharing, and changed the name to NewMac. However, under "Remote Login" and "File Sharing", it says that her computer is still "oldmac.lan".

Is there any way to change this as well?

Thanks!

happened to me once on Mountain Lion but tried it the second time and it works. On my Snow Leopard, it works right away. It even broadcasts to other machines accessing my AFP share.

When I open sharing in System Preferences, right under the Computer name is some text that says what the name other computers access it with and an edit button to the right.

When I click the edit button I get a separate dialogue that lets me change it.
