When I use the open dialog, desktop icons are 512x512. Is there a way of changing their size?

It only affects desktop icons, and it is really annoying . I know how to change size in Finder, but in open dialog there is no view menu or status bar zoom slider, and pinch gestures do not work under Lion.

Thank you

sticky. i want know too!

edit:
tip i found myself:
1. open FINDER/ go to directory where you need to change icon size/ change icon size cmd+J or bottom right zoom control
2. open program / cmd+O and now you see changes

Trying to find the same answer I found

When in "Open" from a program you can now right click an icon which will allow you a "Quick Look". then will open the image at a large scale and even allow you a full screen view of the image.

Still not as good as if we could view all icon in larger mode yet a pretty cool feature
