How to change Mail/Outlook icon and prevent it from reverting back to old icon?

I'm using Outlook 2011 and decided to change its dock icon. Everything works great, but each time when I receive an e-mail and thus the dock email notification appears, the icon will switch back to the original Outlook icon. Only after I've checked my e-mail will the icon switch back to my custom icon again.

Is there a way to retain my custom icon even upon receiving the e-mail notification on the dock icon?

App>Show Pkg Contents>Contents>X.icns

Where x is the name of the official icon (the icon should be actual icon of the application too). Replace that (might be a gd idea to backup the original first) with your custom...naming it appropriately.

Exit. Launch Disk Utility and repair permissions.

Alternatively, download candybar and use that instead

Hm, there is no X.icns in Contents folder of Outlook 2011..... There is an Outlook.icns file in Contents>Resources though. Is this it?

EDIT: I replaced the Outlook.icons with my custom icon (also renamed to Outlook.icons) and it seems to work now, thanks!!
