Has anyone been able to figure out how to change the SMS vibration patterns for iOS 4.0? I want to make it so that I have 3 short vibrations when I get an SMS. Ive tried using the methods for previous firmwares going into the private frameworks and changing the systemsoundvibrationpatterns.plist and adding the SMSReceived_Alert and it doesn't seem to be working. If I mess with the default vibrations it changes vibrations not just for SMS but for email and everything as well. I tried finding where you could change the SMS alerts on my phone but I've had no luck.

This is also one of my most wanted apps.

There is one app that will give you the ability to change the vibrate patterns. It is called "Mobile Profiles". It is not a free app, I think it costs $5 or so. It has a LOT of features. When I tried it, I only wanted to use the vibrate patterns and found it a little cumbersome because of some other added features (or my lack of patients at the time), but this was many many months ago. Maybe there have been some updates? I have never tried it on iOS IP4, maybe I will go give it another shot.

All I did was copy in the same SystemSoundVibrationPatterns.plist that I have used on iOS2 through iOS3 and it still worked the same on iOS4. I now have two short vibration patterns for all alerts. I also have one for 3 vibration alerts.

ok, figured it out - SMSReceived changes the vibration pattern while in the SMS app, and SMSReceived_Alert changes when everywhere else (home screen, etc) when a popup alert comes. So, in order to change for all, you need to add sections to the plist for both. it didn't seem like it worked for me before, because my first test was in the sms app, then 2nd was at the home screen. all worked out now.

Also, you need to reboot after copying the new plist in to get it to work.

attached is mine if you want to use as an example.

asVibra and asVibra2 are in Cydia under Sections\Tweaks (3.0).

asVibra makes the vibrate longer and asVibra2 makes it vibrate 3 times.

asVibra2 is one of my favorite jailbreak apps!

I installed asVibra2 last night and it's working fine on my iPhone4. I don't think you can have both installed though. Either one or the other.

I can confirm asVibra2 works on iPhone 4 iOS 4.0.1. Also, I love that I can now tell the difference between an email and text when the phone is on vibrate in my pocket. Nice job to whoever created this tweak. :)

sure not a problem.. go into cydia. hit manage. hit sources. hit edit (top left). hit add(top right) then after http:// type in apt.iphone-storage.de

hit add source. let it update and blah blah. mine kind of froze when the blue bar was full so if that happens to you just press home button and relaunch cydia. then go to search and type in asvibra.

every package(app) needs to be downloaded from a dev (source, or repo)

Didn't want to start a new thread if I didn't have to. But since this is a SMS thread, thought I'd hijack it, real quick...

Is anyone's green bubble on their text messages a little faded as well as the font in the text?

Yea that happend to mine, so I uninstalled that repo that was made to fix FaceTime and MMS. After that I restarted and my text was normal again.

So you gave up mms and facetime? i'd rather have a faded text box

I just noticed that the tweak changes ALL vibrations to 3-pulses...I was hoping for just the SMS vibration to change and everything else stay the same...oh, well, it still makes it easier to notice it vibrating in my pocket.
