I just want the shuffle algorithm to not pick the same ten songs over and over again.
This is odd. I wonder if it’s a bug. Cause I am trying the shuffle playlist feature using Siri. And it shuffles just the first ten songs. And then the next. And so on. But if I open Spotify. And manually shuffle the same playlist. It shuffles the entire playlist.

I'm not a big music person, but anytime I ask Siri to play soft rock from the 60s or 70s, the selection seems very limited with about 50 songs. Try it again the next day; it's precisely the same as the day before. Apple Music, for me, is very dull. There was a time when I could ask Siri to play a radio station, but that too is now hard to use or doesn't play at all. It's strange because I pay for Apple Music and iTunes Match, but it still sucks. I also have YouTube Premium that includes their Music service, and that plays much better content from any genre or segment.

All I want is an option to change default music app WITHOUT Siri. For now iOS 14.5 is in beta but I’d be pissed if changing default app suddenly becomes Siri exclusive.

What Apple should do is to return to origins. I mean, I felt in love with Apple thanks to the iPod, the originals, the classic ones. It was so simple to play all our music there that actually is the device that vamped the way of Apple to relaunch the company and lead to it’s current success (obviously they took a step by step way). Now is really sad that Apple Music is almost forgotten by Apple. So I truly think they should reengineer the Music App from zero, respecting all aspects that made iPod great and one of the most iconic devices for our generation, at least as a way to honour all customers that have been with Apple since then, supporting Apple to become what today is.
You might like Harken For iPhone then. :)

Thank god this finally happened. About time.

Tired of telling Siri, "Hey Siri, play X by Y...on Spotify" every single damn time.

That's how the grass grows. I have the same complaint about youtube music, having come from Google play music (rip). Ytm seems to be repetitive, in comparison, and the discovery is not nearly as good. I was happy to get an apple music subscription from verizon at the same time. Funny enough, I barely use it. Turns out,, I like ytm better. I think we like to be hard to please sometimes...

We are considered tech savvy.
We sometimes are picky.
We speak loudly.
We are minority, unfortunately.

At this point, between the mask unlock and now the Spotify default in the car, I’m more excited for 14.5 than I was for 14!

I guess so, but for me being hard to please has little to do with it. I have eight Homepods and a Nest Hub Max. The HP's are great for elevator music and medical assistance, but if I want to listen to music that I like, the Nest device is more accurate, and I don't have to fiddle around with my queries.

I have always viewed Apple as a tech device company while Google is in the information business. It stands to reason the latter would be more inclusive.

I starting using Spotify when it came to the US back in mid-2012. When Apple Music first came out I tried it and it was lacking some super basic features. Over the years I've dabbled as I am so invested in the ecosystem and the features are on par with Spotify at this point. The only complaint I really have at this point is its curated playlists. Unless you exclusively listen to mainstream music, Apple Music simply falls well below the mark when it comes to music discovery. It's not even close. It stinks because I really wanted to stick to AM, but after several months of basically listening to the same stuff I started up my Spotify account again and immediately found just so many new songs that it once again reaffirmed why I go with Spotify.

Oh my god 😭 didn’t know this was a thing and wanted to hear a podcast and chose TuneIn… now every time i ask Siri to play a song it opens TuneIn and plays some obscure podcast or radio station with a similar name and there IS NO WAY TO CHANGE IT!!! This is killing me .. stoopid Apple STOOPID!!!
