Might as well educate people while I'm at it. I'm here to help bro.

I personally would rather use SSH/SFTP because they are the same tools I use every day in my job. While for most people iFunBox would get the job done, so would SSH.

With one terminal window I can have sessions open to my remote servers as well as my iphone.

And good luck actually doing any serious hacking (if that's your thing) without using SSH. Just because you personally can't see the value doesn't mean there is none.

And to the OP, I actually just install an SSH client (which I need anyway) and just SSH into localhost instead of installing MobileTerminal.

Understood. Makes sense for you to use it then.

Wow. Sidewinder. Not good bro.

1) Boot your mac into windows or use parrelels. Still easier then setting up SSH.

Wow... really? Taking the time to install a second OS via dual boot or virtualization is easier than using the terminal?

I still think you really hate the fact that others are more comfortable with using SSH than you are.

Not it. When I started Jbing I used SSH just fine. Perfectly comfortable. I also tried tinyumbrella.

I found easier ways to get things accomplished, and since I prefer efficiency, I went with them. Now I try to help others out.

Most mac users have windows set up already. But if not, they can use iphone explorer. Not all the features are there, but all the file transfer ones are.

Available right here, at the developers page.

1. Booting into Windows or Parallels is not easier than opeing up a terminal window on my Mac.

2. Interesting the site has been down for days. It picked a good time, for you, to come back.

Wow.. so you don't understand SSH and you make a silly suggestion like this?

I can be up and running with SSH in the 15 seconds it takes to install from Cydia and the 2 seconds it takes me to click my Terminal in my dock.

Guess what, my favorite text editor is VI too.

This is the guys that says I should edit my hosts file instead of taking 10 seconds to run Tiny Umbrella and click on the "Start TSS" button.

That is like so hard to do......

Installing Windows is easier and faster!

Hours? You mean minutes.......one time.

iPhone Explorer is okay. I use it often. But I ssh into my iPhone all the time.

It's different for windows users. So here, lets all relax and say this:

Mac: Iphone Explorer for super easy use, SSH for more advanced use

Windows: Use ifunbox

Youre forgetting the hours of setup for SSH in the first place.

But you can just use iphone explorer if you have a mac: http://www.macroplant.com/iphoneexplorer/

Hours?

Install OpenSSH
Open terminal
ssh root@[phone ip]
passwd
passwd mobile

done.

Your suggestion:

Use Boot Camp Assistant to partition HD
Install Windows
Get windows running
Install Mac drivers from install disc
Install iTunes for USB drivers
Install iFunBox

Actually, your way does seem much more easier

If you are a serious mac user, you should already have a copy of windows installed.

You have a very skewed definition of "serious."

Already modified my position on macs bro. Mac users rejoice.

It's different? Download putty which is less than 500k and doesn't even need an install.. Thank you for a good laugh for the evening.

I've seen SSH step sheets 40 steps long for SSH on widows, including passwords, ip addresses, winscp, etc. Plus you have to install an app on your phone that makes it vulnerable unless you manually change your root password.

Yeah. I'm saying ifunbox is easier.

Let me put it this way. Lets say me and you had two fresh iphones in front of us, and the goal was to modify a png file on the phone. I promise you I would beat you to the mod by a factor of 10.

Yeah.. you've never seen a competent user and a command-line. A few TABs, maybe a shortcut or two like ~ and your factor of 10 is gone. With bash completion I can navigate 10 directories deep faster than any possible GUI.

So you're trying to say you're better than those who use SSH? Was that was this was all about?

Yeah.. you've never seen a competent user and a command-line.

Dude, be honest with yourself. By the time you even had Cydia loaded, to put OpenSSH on your phone, I'd be done.

Seriously. Think about it. Cydia takes awhile to load. I'd be done in that time. I don't care how good you are with terminal commands.

OWNED haha

This thread is cracking me up. I do see kre's point though. I wish I would have known about this program before I tried to SSH for the first time.

Finally someone gets it.

Yes, owned. I'm going to sell all my Macs and go buy a PC so I can use this incredible program now. I guess I can uninstall Cydia and unjailbreak my phone too because this iFunBox program is so awesome.
